How To Get Your Ged, Scam Artists Are Cashing In.

Getting your GED will open a lot of doors for you not previously thought of. When you have a GED it means you have completed the basic education required by most employers. Getting you GED is not a hard task and can usually be accomplished with a month if you are focused.

Don't worry, you are not alone either ... It is estimated that almost 35 Million people in the USA today are without their GED or High School Diploma. There are many free resources for you to obtain GED information. If you simply Google the words, "GED Testing Center" + (Your State), you will find the contact information for where you will end up taking your tests.

When you contact these testing centers, they can often times lead you to free materials which will help you study and pass the GED, but be careful when you are searching on your own. You may run into some companies that offer you a GED for $150.00, $250.00 or more based on your life experiences. These GED's are typically worth no more than the paper they are written on.

I remember a time when I was working for a college admissions office. We had a sharp lady come to our school, enroll with one of our admissions reps who was having difficulty locating the school's contact information. Being the savvy computer whiz I am, I located the information, contacted the school, and received all her transcripts in a matter of minutes.

Something disturbed me when I had received her information however. I noticed the transcripts spoke of having emphasis in certain areas that did not look like any other high school transcript I had seen before. I asked her how she had gotten her GED and she told me she did it online and it took her seven weeks.

I decided to visit the Department of Education's website because they have a link where you can verify a school and their accreditation. This is important because if the school is not accredited, your diploma, GED, or what have you will be invalid and worthless.

Sure enough, they were not an accredited body. Having informed the women of my findings, she was very upset and said they had charged her over $200.00. We knew she was smart though and encouraged her to contact the local GED testing center we knew about. Long story short, she took her tests, passed, and enrolled in College one month later.

Moral of the story, you can get you GED if you work hard and watch out for scammers. Getting your GED is not hard if you focus on your studies and take the tests the minute you have learned the material.
