Jaguar Unveils the 2009 XF Sedan


Finally, Ford Motor Company's Jaguar luxury marque released the details of the striking all-new 2009 XF 4-door sedan model. The XF, according to Jaguar Cars, "combines the style and performance of a sports car with the refinement, space and sophistication of a luxury sedan." The car will make its world premiere at the upcoming 2007 International Motor Show (IAA) that will take place in Frankfurt, Germany.

Wayne Burgess, XF Senior Design Manager commented:
"As one of the most visually striking, technically sophisticated and driver-oriented sedan cars that Jaguar has ever produced, the XF clearly demonstrates the forward-looking focus that now defines the Jaguar brand. With its dramatic styling, powerful flowing lines and a distinctive front, the new XF looks like no other Jaguar. Yet it defines the new design language the company will be adopting for all future models."

The 2009 Jaguar XF embodies the British automaker's new design language. The bold and striking body stance complements the car's improved aerodynamic features. “The XF is a stage in a personal journey for me. It has always been my career goal to return Jaguar to its rightful place as leader in automotive design. Cars like the original XJ6 left a lasting legacy and my ambition has been to create something as seminal. The XF is that car,” says Ian Callum, Design Director. Compared to other competitors in the segment like Lexus GS300 (with Lexus car cover) and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the XF boasts 45 mm advantage in length, as well as 25 mm in width.

Exterior features of the 2009 Jaguar XF include emphasized headlamps, front lower bumper with powerful air intakes, chrome 'splitter' blades, tail lamp graphics wrap around onto the rear wings featuring LED technology, large growler badge on the front grille, twin chrome tailpipes, and a choice of 17, 18, 19 or 20-inch alloy wheels.



As expected for a Jaguar luxury sedan model, the 2009 XF boasts a sophisticated interior features with high quality materials. Interior highlights of the 2009 Jaguar XF include Satin American Walnut, Burr Walnut, and straight-grained Rich Oak veneers, Touch-screen controls, CD storage, an auxiliary power supply, Portable Audio Interface for iPod and other MP3 players, mood lighting in the header console, aluminium-coloured dials, electrically adjustable, eight-way seat adjustment for the driver and front passenger, active heated and cooled ventilated front seats, with fan-assisted whole seat heating, whole seat cooling, or just squab heating or cooling. Also, the XF comes with a premium audio system like the Jaguar 320W Premium Sound System with DSP amplifier linked to nine speakers, and the Bowers & Wilkins 440W Surround Sound System with Dolby® Pro-Logic® II 7.1 Surround Sound and 14 speakers.

The new 2009 Jaguar XF will roll out in the US market with a choice of two power plants: 4.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 and 4.2-liter supercharged V8. This two engines feature Jaguar's six-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddles for manual gear selection (Jaguar Sequential Shift). The car will be available in March 2008 with three trim levels: Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Supercharged models.
