Have you seen shampoo commercials lately? The models have great looking hairs right? Men and women alike envy these models because of their beautiful and healthy hair. But since it is an advertisement, only the best models are hired. In real life, most men and women experience hair loss problems at some point of their lives.

Women are more conscious when it comes to grooming their hair. They are always looking forward for great hair days. Hair fall can cause anxiety among women and trying to address your hair loss problem without any professional help is not advisable. Some hair loss products available in the market can have side effects so be very careful when using them.

Women experience a lot of changes as they age. Unlike men, women have to deal with their monthly periods or menstruation. Another is pregnancy and then they also have to face their menopausal stage. During these times, women experience a lot of changes in their body including hair loss.

So what are the causes of hair loss among women?

Pregnancy

Almost every married woman will go through pregnancy. Pregnancy can cause hair loss and this is due to the hormonal levels in your body. Hormone production is affected once a woman gets pregnant and in turn it causes hair loss.

Pregnant women are not advised to take any medications or use products that can be absorbed through the skin without doctor’s advice because the baby’s health and development can be affected. Propecia is a popular hair loss product but doctors don’t prescribe the said product because it was previously proven to cause birth defects.

Menopause

Hormone production is slowed down when the menopause stage begins. Because of this reduction in hormone levels, women get bald spots on their head. To address this problem, most women would undergo a therapy for hormone replacement so that their hair will grow back again.

Hysterectomy

When a woman’s fallopian tubes, ovaries, and uterus are removed, she will also experience hair loss and this is because of the reduction in hormone production. The case is similar to menopause. If you want, you can undergo therapy or you can use hair loss products to replace your lost hair.

Genetic factors are also one of the main reasons of female hair loss. Men are more prone to genetically inherited baldness because only a few women are affected by such condition. What usually happens is that women who belong to a family with a history of baldness or alopecia act as carrier of the genes; later on, they pass the genes to their children. Male members of the family are most likely affected by baldness or hair loss. But there are some cases of female pattern baldness noted by some researchers.

Lifestyle has something to do with hair loss as well. Those that live healthy and active lifestyles are not prone to having hair loss. So you should keep close attention to your diet. Be sure to take vitamins so that your body gets the necessary nutrients it needs.

Try to avoid styling your hair frequently. Most women love to put highlights on their hair or even bleach it but you’re probably unaware that it can cause serious damages to your hair. Now that you know some of the major causes of hair loss in women, you can prevent such a frustrating incident from occurring.
