One of the most interesting element in the tourism industry is the tourism demand. Demand as the economic concept refers to the amount of the definite products which the consumer is ready to buy, on fixed price, in the particular time and with the pointed circumstances. There is an economic rule: if the price is high, the demand for the product is lower and vice versa. But there are some exception to the rule. In general the are three main principal elements of the tourism demand. They are:
- an effective demand, which contain the amount of people who actually are participating in tourism. The commonly accepted way of measuring the actual demand is the number of travelers;
- a restrained demand, which means the amount of people, who have the desire to travel, but have no possibility to do it because of different circumstances. This type of demand is called the potential demand. If the restricting factors disappear, the potential demand becomes the effective demand;

- a deferred demand, which also can become the actual demand;
- no demand, which is characterized as the absence of desire to travel and to visit different countries.
There also a lot of the other approaches to the tourism demand. For example, the deputizing of demand, which means the substitution one activity connected with tourism for another similar activity. The another view consider the displacement of demand, which refers to the case when the geographical location of tourism interests changes. A very effective way to support and to extend the tourism demand is to open and develop new tourist centers, resorts and places of attraction. The way to attract the wide demand for these new resorts divides into three main approaches:

- to readdress the demand from the similar resorts in the area to the new places of attraction;
- to replace the demand from the absolutely dissimilar resorts to the new;
- to create the new effective demand.
