Communication within Singapore

There are basically 2 mobile phone networks in Singapore; they are the GSM900 and GSM1800. For this, I think it will be advisable for a group of travelers to bring at least 1 GSM mobile phone while traveling in Singapore. This is to ensure that you can liaise with either your family members back at home or your hotel if you ever need them. You can easily get a prepaid card in Singapore Changi Airport or 7-Eleven stores. You may need your passport to purchase the prepaid card for calling. There are 3 mobile telephone service providers; they are Singtel, M1 and StarHub. To make international calls, the access codes are 001, 013, or 019 for SingTel, 002 or 021 for M1, and 008 or 018 for StarHub. On top of that, there are public phones easily available in most shopping complexes or Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) stations. Local calls are charged at 10 cents per three minutes. Phone card or international calling cards are available at all post offices including Singapore Changi Airport, 7-Eleven stores and other retail outlets.

Singapore Post operates a network of more than 1,300 postal outlets conveniently located throughout the island. Most outlets are open Monday through Friday, from 0830 hrs to 1700 hrs and until 1300 hrs on Saturday.
