So, would you like to meet someone new? Here are the top five ways you can meet someone today:

1. Take a dog for a walk and do it regularly
People will approach you, even if they don't know you, to admire the dog. As long as the dog is friendly and fairly well mannered, you are in. You will talk to people you've never met - guaranteed. If your dog does cute tricks you will meet even more people. Walk the dog regularly, it will do you and the dog some good and if you keep it up, you will eventually meet someone you really like.

2. Help someone
Many people think the best way to meet people that you will like is to volunteer your help. Generally, the best people to meet are your fellow volunteers, as you share at least one mutual interest. Volunteering can bring out the best in people, which makes them a pleasure to be around.

Men will need continued mutual experiences to maintain a relationship. Woman can maintain a relationship without as much mutual experiences, as long as they get to have conversation. For woman, conversation can supplant continued mutual experiences. Men need projects, contests and adventure to assure a bond. Volunteering can get you important mutual experience that is the wellspring of relationship.

3. Join in
Here is some advice I never thought I'd be giving: Join a club. I have rarely joined a club that would accept me as a member.
Over the last few years, I have taken to running. Lots of people hate even the thought of themselves running. I have taken to it much like I have taken to green olives: I really didn't like them, but I noticed how much other people did so I kept trying them. I got used to them, and eventually, I grew to really like green olives. They are now one of my favorite foods.

I started running slowly and for just a little bit. I liked the fresh air. For what seemed the longest while, the fresh air was all I liked about running. I guess I got used to running. My body changed enough to accommodate the runs. I then started to participate in "races" so I could have an active goal for which to train. In running, you truly compete with yourself. For me, if I finish, I win.

Here's the surprise I got from running races – lots of other people do it! People from all backgrounds and all ages are runners. Many of them are interesting and some are even good looking.
So, take my advice and join a running club. Even if you don't run there are many ways you can get involved. I would list some here but at the moment I can't think of any.

4. Take an active interest in those around you
Every week at work, take an interest in someone new. Look them in the eye and smile. Ask them about their interests, their background, their favorite music… Most people will like you for taking an interest in them. Be genuine and you will be rewarded with new and interesting friends. This expands your pool of acquaintances, which means you have a greater chance to be introduced to someone they know and someone they know… This is the old fashioned method of social networking.

5. Social Networking
Social networking here refers to a category of Internet applications to help connect friends, business partners, or other individuals together using a variety of tools. You are probably reading this from a computer, so you may be familiar with the variety of social networking sites. Right now, there are over 200 social networking sites. Friendster is one of the most successful at using the Circle of Friends technique.

Though the premise is different, online dating services and relationship sites are another form of social networking. If an intimate relationship is your goal, we know many people who have had wonderful experiences with internet dating. The pool from which to date is big and the audience is highly targeted and often motivated.

Be patient when looking for the right person to come along. And remember this:

The things in life that are truly rewarding are often the most difficult to attain.

So, go out and meet someone and while you are at it, do some good in the world.
