Are you a box standard, a name brand hunter, a bargain hunter, home builder or other? I'm refering to how you might be categorized when out hunting for a new computer. It's all down to finances and taste. Without the funds, taste doesn't come into play, it's simply a case of what can i get for my money. With cash to burn comes taste and the need to have the best looking, name branded coolest system on the planet. Take 2 ends of the market: The standard PC. You buy a P4 unit from Staples or another high street store for £400 with monitor and everything to get it running straight out of the box. It does everything you need and didn't break the bank.

At the other end of the spectrum are the systems for those with money. Take the Apple Macs of this world. With a descent system starting from about £1000, the computers are designed for those with a) money or b) a need to use the systems. So why do they sell: well it's the look, the style and well at the end of the day it comes down to marketing. They have the right strategy. Right now, they're a company that's evolving, their systems are amazing as is the operating system.

In a similar vain are companies such as Aiien, who develop and deploy some of the most fantastic computer cases in the world. These cases and the other mods are used by serious gamers to produce custom built computer systems that are both powerful and great to look at.

At the end of the day, it's important to consider the above factors when deciding what marketing strategy to follow in targeting your consumer market and obtaining the right audience?
