The massage chair came to the public in about the late 1980's. It was invented to imitate the motions and effects of a real massage by a real masseuse. The reason Massage chairs were invented were to relax the body and get rid of stress and pain all over the body. Back pain is one of the common uses that the massage chair was intended to relieve and more specifically lower back pain. Massage chairs were very expensive in the beginning but now are reasonable priced. It used to be that you had to be wealthy to afford a massage chair or even a Shiatsu massage chair, but now even the middle class blue collar worker can afford to have one.
Massage chair Types
There are many different types of massage chairs on the market today. Two of the most known and well liked types are the Shiatsu Massage chair and the Swedish Massage chair. Below is the explanation of these two types.


•Shiatsu uses a more pressure, whishing, tapping, rolling, and even some types of Rotating movements. Shiatsu is said to relieve the pressure at certain points in the body and can fell quite good sometimes and actually hurt others. Ever heard the saying “no pain no gain” Sometimes it will hurt before it starts relieving the pain.
•Swedish massage is a more slow and long rolling motion that gets the bodies circulation going and therefore relieving built up tension and pain that is in the form of lower or upper back pain. Swedish massage chairs are also very good at relieving neck and shoulder pain as well.

If you’re an employer you might consider purchasing some massage chairs for your workers. This might seem like an expense you don’t need but it may actually increase your bottom line. How so you ask? Circulatory problems have been associated with sitting at a desk for long periods of time. A Massage chair opens up the muscles and relieves this tension. Tight muscles caused by stress at work and sitting behind a computer monitor all day, especially When the persons work station is not ergonomically correct, can slow down blood flow dramatically throughout the body. This can and will result in mental slowness, less energy and other symptoms that are not good for productivity. You can purchase a couple massage chairs and instruct your employees to use them for 10 to 15 minutes per day. This will not only build moral but keep your workers happy, healthy, and very productive.
