These days, everyone has heard about Soybeans. They’re small green or brown beans that have taken the health market by storm. They’ve found their way into every imaginable food product, giving birth to Soy milk, Soy cookies, Soy burgers, Soy crisps, and dozens of others. These little beans are typically associated with a vegetarian diet, and while they are a perfect fit for such a niche, they contain many health benefits that anyone can and should enjoy.

Soybeans have shown to be a very unique little food. On top of their many nutritionally-laden properties, they stand out from most other vegetables in that they are naturally complete proteins. This is a big deal – usually to find complete proteins naturally we must turn to meat products, which are abundant in them. Plants only contain broken fragments of proteins, which do the body no good unless they are eaten in certain combinations that allows our body to assemble the pieces as whole proteins itself. Not so with Soybeans – as providers of complete proteins, they offer a unique opportunity to receive your proper intake of protein without the negative cardiovascular effects of red meats.

Soy’s protein, unlike red meat, is actually constructive for heart health. It helps strengthen the blood vessels themselves, fighting atherosclerosis (the hardening of the veins), lowering blood pressure, and reduce artery-clogging plaque. Soy also provides a natural source of antioxidants, which fight off free-radicals, thereby preventing premature aging.

While Soy products are helping your heart to beat clean and healthy, they’re also doing much more for the rest of your body. Soy contains natural flavanoids called Isoflavones. Isoflavones multi-task to help your body achieve greater health. They help your body naturally regulate certain hormones, one of which happens to be estrogen. This allows Soy products to help women naturally alleviate the effects of Menopause and their monthly P.M.S. symptoms. It also helps to lower your risk of ever developing cancers associated with hormone irregularities such as endometrial, breast, and prostate cancer. Isoflavones also allow your body to absorb more calcium directly, allowing it to naturally strengthen your bones and prevent premature wear and breakdown.

Soy is deserving of its active role in the lifestyles of the health-conscious. As you can see, in addition to supplying our bodies with much-needed protein, it also goes a long way to help keep our bodied looking and feeling younger, as well as taking steps to preventing certain unwanted cancers and degenerative diseases. What makes Soy even better is the ease of which it can be consumed – it exists in dozens of different forms, combined with other foods which bring to you these benefits in a flexible variety of foods form desserts to meat substitutes. So go ahead and try one of these unique treats the next time you go to the supermarket – your body will be glad that you did.
