Plus size women should not "show skin." This seems more like a way of hiding plus size women by covering as much of them as possible instead of being a real fashion tip. There is no reason why any woman, plus or otherwise, should have to hide in "fat clothes." Find a feature that you like and flaunt it, girl! Short skirts to accent shapely legs or a V-neck to show off a curvy figure are definitely a yes!
Plus girls should never bare their arms. Sleeveless shirts have long been touted as a no-no for plus size women, but this is just not true! Showing a little skin can be flattering and make you feel sexy. However, if you are not comfortable baring your upper arms, you can drape a pretty, sheer shawl over your shoulders. A shrug is another great way to cover your upper arms, or you can get a shirt with lace or chiffon sleeves. That way you can bare your arms without showing too much skin!
Hefty ladies are advised not to wear clothing with sideways lines as it is not a good idea. Multi-directional stripes can be appealing if they are worn in the right places on your body. Pear shaped women should make sure to wear the sideways stripes in other areas of their bodies such as their chest, neck area, or near the leg area of the body rather than at their larger mid torso area.
Plus girls should stay away from bold prints. Pay no attention to this myth! The effect of the print upon a plus-sized silhouette is determined by the spacing of the print. Look for prints with overlapping edges, not those whose major elements are widely spaced. Remember that bold and large-sized fabric designs will flatter you!
The myth that plus size girls should not wear clothes that are form fitting is bunk. It is a straight giveaway that you are trying to hide your body from the world. Why should plus size girls wear big, baggy clothes all the time? The trick is to highlight the right curves and hide the rest. The "tight-loose" method of fashion comes to the rescue. An example of a body conscious outfit would be a fitted cami under a relaxed or unstructured jacket. These don't cling to you and at the same time, help shift the focus onto the right curves!
Plus girls can't wear white. True, dark colors such as black, charcoal and navy are slimming, fit is more important than color. Color can be used to your advantage. If you are bigger on the bottom, wear a simple, darker color there and a lighter color on the top. You may even choose a bolder print on top. The point is that plus girls are not confined to the dark colors, by all means, lighten up! Wear red, blue, pastels, you name it, and, of course, wear white!
