Getting traffic to your website is potentially the biggest task you have to handle once you decide to publish a website. If there is no visitor, there is no use writing a website since there will be nobody who will read the site. I strongly believe that there are few fundamental aspects that a webmaster needs to understand when finding ways to generate traffics. These aspects are rarely spoken even by expert search engine optimization team and yet these are the most fundamental criteria to generate loyal and targeted visitors. The normal traffic generations methods such as performing SEO, writing article, joining forum and etc. definitely works, but these methods will work best if combined with these fundamental criteria.
WRITE FOR HUMAN and then for machines.
This is the most important aspect that one should concentrate, yet many webmasters tend to ignore. Are you developing a website for a machine to read or for a human being who has flesh and blood? Of course it is human! Therefore, write your website as how you would like to communicate to a human. Do not write website/blog mainly for search engine spiders to index your site. Even when your website appears at the top search engine ranking, but the moment a human reads the site and finds it is full of keywords and no solid content, they just going to avoid the site in the future. Remember, human has feeling, machines has no heart.
WRITE SOLID CONTENT
Write a website with solid and valuable content. Many webmasters write their website with content that are available everywhere else in the internet. Even if your website has a generic content, arrange them in orderly manner and include other crucial content to your site which will make reader able to distinguish your site with your competitor. When readers could see this within your site, they will find the advantage of reading your site compared to your competitor.
KNOW WHO ARE YOUR READERS
Knowing who will read and be interested with your website is crucial. For example my site www.toliveonline.com is meant for beginner and intermediate entrepreneurs who would like to start or improve their online business. That is why I wrote almost every aspect about starting online business and these groups of people are my target readers. An advance and knowledgeable online business entrepreneur may not find my site carry much information that they need, but this group is not the targeted group of readers for the site. Therefore it is okay. When writing your website/blog, understand and know who your reader is and write for them.
Marketing your website sometimes will take some time before you could see result, but focus on writing your website using the above fundamental criteria and incorporate the rest of the standard online website marketing methods. Always remember, human first and machine is always second.
