A village in Wales with the longest name in Britain has registered the longest domain name in the world.
The new domain, www.llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.com owes its existence to 63 character limit on domain names.
The orginal limit was 26 but is now 63 characters.
Most domain name registrations are not that long! In fact the most common length is seven characters.
Shorter domain names are easier to remember and less likely to get entered incorrectly. The disadvantage being that all the good ones have almost gone!
If you have a domain name your thinking of registering, why not try our
