A simple guide to any marketing strategy should be based on Jesus’ number one principle: love they neighbor as you love thyself.

For marketers and non-marketing officers alike, this universal belief can be applied in developing one’s life, as well as in growing one’s business. It may be the most basic rule in human relationships, but most often than not, this rule has been overlooked just because there are so many distractions that keep us busy these days.

But despite its seeming loss, when people consider buying a product, they would always lean to and go for a company that would have these two qualities that seem to epitomize this basic principle: ethics and philosophy.

Not just the ideal action and lip service, mind you. But the real ethical and philosophical way of treating the customers, and eventually, treating humanity right.

If you want to base your business foundation on something strong where you will build your business relationships, you must ensure that you have both sound ethics and solid philosophy in your organization.

These two key qualities may not be quantitative, but in every aspect of your business dealings, if you want to become successful, you need to have both – from your officials to your staff, and all the way to your flyers' or postcards' content and overall marketing strategy.

Ethics and philosophy are what encourage people to come up with the good decisions. Not necessarily the right ones, but the good ones that would benefit most of the populace. It’s more of caring and being compassionate to your fellow human beings. It’s all about being fair and just.

Profit is not anymore the essential part of every business. Profit is usually associated with greed and one-sidedness. People would definitely be opposed to these. On the other hand, consumers and buyers would definitely go for a company with solid ethical and philosophical qualities.

With ethics and philosophy integrated in your marketing strategy, you are communicating a more human side to your target audience. You are telling your target market that you have a human face, and that you always strive to do what is right for your customers. This is very powerful marketing strategy indeed because it appeals to each person’s deepest emotion.

So as you begin your marketing plan for the New Year, try to integrate ethics and philosophy into it. Become more aware of your responsibility in creating a better place for humanity. And be always mindful of the future.

The bottom line is to always ask yourself if what you have outlined is right and good for the many. If it is, then surely, you are on the right track. And that would be the most effective way to grow your business.
