"When the client is ready, the consultant will arrive" by Cathy Goodwin

You may remember the Chinese saying, "When the student is
ready, the teacher will arrive." I now believe
that, for business and career growth, "When the client is
ready, the resource will arrive," whether in the form of a
supportive friend, coach, consultant or book.

Not everyone benefits from hiring a coach or consultant.
Some people actually make faster progress on their own.
Before you reach for the phone to set up a get-acquainted
call, ask yourself these three questions.

First, are you primarily a do-it-yourselfer or do you tend
to benefit from hiring help? Review the way you conquered
previous challenges. You'll probably succeed the same way
today -- unless there's a good reason to expect change.

Second, are you ready to invest time, money and energy to

reach your goal? Psychologists know that people who are
truly motivated will make changes -- with or without help.
And if you're not clear on your goal, you're wasting money
when you hire help.

Third, what kind of help do you need from your resources?
Clarity? Focus? Motivation ? Expertise? Get very clear
before reaching for your credit card. If you need copywriting
skills you won't benefit from a Law of Attraction coach, and
vice versa.

Ultimately, business and career growth come from your
own inner fire, guided by intuition, which creates energy.
And when you're truly motivated, you'll be ready. Don't
be surprised when teachers as well as other resources start
to arrive.
