Credit cards are the easier way of paying your purchases even when you are not carrying enough of cash. Being the easier way of payment it is accompanied with threats of fraud too. Credit card's security is one of the main concerns of credit cardholders across the globe. Since its security lapse can land them into trouble, financial as well as legal. The media highlights credit card fraud quite often. Criminals seemingly have developed newer and more sophisticated means and methods to trick credit card holders.

As the card stealing had become the outdated method, the criminals are now equipped with the more innovative means and ways. Whenever, the police arrests credit card fraudsters who have used a new technique for the crime they immediately inform the credit card companies so that they can incorporate counter security measure in their products.

The latest technology for credit card fraud is 'skimming'. Through this method fraudsters copy the data on the magnetic strip present on your card and then use that for their own purposes. Telephone transaction is another way of card fraud. Since, unknowingly you may disclose details of your credit card to a person whom you hardly know. However, credit card companies have come up with a new technique to curb this method of fraud. The technique is called Chip and PIN.

Many experts feel that using the card on the Internet is far safer as using the card for buying petrol or paying food bills. This opinion is challenged by the fact that most of the online retailers and companies do not reveal their phone numbers. So their authenticity cannot be judged. There are more credit card frauds online than by any other means. Thus, many credit card companies offer a no-risk guarantee against Internet purchases. Thus, if there a fraud takes place on your card the issuing company will deal with the problem and you'll have no financial obligations or liabilities.

The credit card comes up with the additional responsibility, which asks you to be more vigilant and active. There are many ways to crack the credit card fraud but the preferred one is by not keeping your card and PIN at the same place. It makes difficult for the person to access your card. Another most trusted method is to avoid flashing your card and its detail in open places like petrol pumps or restaurants. By few precautionary steps you can use your card's facilities safe and secure.
