Affiliate marketing is an excellent way for the beginner
to start an online business. As an affiliate you're
basically acting as a middleman between the merchant and the
consumer.

This benefits the consumer because the affiliate doesn't
add anything to the price of the product and it benefits
the merchant because they don't have to pay for advertising.

The benefits to the affiliate marketer is the fact that
they don't have to pay for R&D, product development,
pricing or fulfillment.

Here are ten success secrets for the aspiring affiliate
marketer.

1. Focus your efforts on one specific area.
Don't try to be all things to everybody. Pick one area
of interest, find good products that offer an affiliate
program and promote one or two to start with.


2. Do your homework.
Check on the affiliate programs you're interested in
associating yourself with. Is the product of good quality?
Is it something of interest to your audience? You'll also
want to consider the payout percentage.

3. Create your own site.
By creating your own site and not relying soley on the
marketing materials of the affiliate program you'll set
yourself apart from all the other affiliates who may be
promoting the same products. You should build your site
with articles and a separate landing page where you can
capture the names and email addresses of your visitors
before sending them to the product page.

4. Market your site.
Advertise your site to drive traffic and visitors to your
lead capture pages. Submit it to search engines, link

exchanges and traffic exchanges.

5. Market the product itself.
Use your site to presell the product. Write an endorsement
or review of the product in your own words.

6. Build trust with your audience.
Don't hide behind your website. Always disclose your real
name and place your picture on the site if possible. Give
your prospects your mailing address right on the site.

7. Learn to network.
Join forums and communities that share your interests and
make contacts with like minded individuals. This way you
could pool your resources to the benefit of each of you.

8. The money's in the list.
Always capture the name and email address of your visitors
before sending them to the affiliate site. Build and
nurture your list by using an autoresponder with a pre-

written series of emails lauding the product you're
promoting.

9. Protect your link.
Many people will attempt to steal your affiliate earnings
by bypassing your affiliate link. It's unfortunate but
true. If you work to get the sale you have every right to
get the money owed to you. This link's your property,
protect it as such.

10. Expand your horizons.
After establishing yourself with your prospects join more
related affiliate programs and add them to your arsenal
of products. People like to buy from someone who they've
already bought from.
