Applying a phrase "a strong-willed man" to a person we mean a self-motivated, brave-hearted, square-shouldered hero like we see on television every day and admire. But the reality is different and we understand that there are no supermen among us. In our life we are ruled mostly by desires and stimulus that later transform into a direct aim guided by common sense. There is no desire to be the winner, the conqueror and the governor of your own little world within us. We omit conflicts and get away from responsibility. People complaint about life and forget about pleasant things they take for granted. It is easier for us to feel secure and dependant on somebody. And we are sure that it is great to avoid responsibility and put the burden of problems on somebody's shoulders. It is easier to follow the call of the heart without thinking about the consequences. Your irresponsibility makes you free from hard choices and decisions. You don't think about the two sides of your life that include "I want" and "I have to".

Everything starts from the daily routine that means absolutely nothing for you and you do it only just because it is what you have to do. Remember your student years that when you had to sit till the break of the day working on your research paper outline instead of having fun with a good company? All our life is a constant struggle between "I must" and "I want". All the choices you make depend on your desire but you stay ignorant to it. But if you are going to get divorced, get another job you've always dreamed of you actually listen to the inner call of your heart. It is a complex choice for it involves a conflict of motivation and a multiple choice of decisions. This results in a fight between desires and obligations in front of other people that somehow are dependant on you. To change your future and eliminate contradictions, to avoid problems and reach harmony, a person requires strong will and stamina, more than on a boxing court. (www.stsci.edu/resources) If you are not ignorant to responsibility and motivate your choices not only by your desire but make it a composite of several aims, you are most likely to reach aims. First difficulties do not stop them on the way to success, because they are determined to use every chance and possibility. Despair is not the state they fall into, because it misleads them. They never loose their temper because they know the value of self-control.

Will has quite a vague definition. From one side, will gives freedom and independence. From the other side it gives a strain that you have to take on every day. If you acquire will, it will help you to figure out the best of your life. As one of the philosophers once uttered "It is hard to fight for good every day, but those, who fight, are indeed good".
