Acne is familiar to a lot of people nowadays. Acne is also known as pimples or scientifically as vulgaris. It's caused when your pores get blocked resulting an accumulation of fatty material from your oil gland or sebaceous gland.

Not all of your pores are affected by acne. The reason for this is still a uncertain. Because of the accumulation in the pores, a bump may in time appear which is known as blackheads or whiteheads. Blackheads are not caused by dirt but by the chemical response of the fatty material in the pores with the air it come in contact with. Air causes the loss of color of the fatty material causing a "bump."

There are many different types acne along with conflicting superstitious doctrine, theories and treatments. These different types of treatments may produce positive results for others but not on you because of acne's complexity. So, don't just believe on what your buddies tell you or what you see on the TV commercial about acne cures. Those may just be one of theories and superstitious myths.

We already understand the physical effects of acne (When you pop it its causes additional acnes or worse it turns into a life-long scar), but how about its psychological effects? Teens with acne tend to experience lower self-confidence that leads to them feeling isolated and being awkward around their peers with clear skin. Acnes made people cry, and enraged. Thousands of people each year are affected by it, and it makes recluses out of a many adolescents.

Teenagers are not the only one suffering from acne, adult acne is also common. Different from teen acne, adult acne is due to the changes that adult skin goes through as we mature. Scars caused by acne in adults are more severe than the scars of adolescents with acne. Adults, unlike teens are not likely to find "easy" solutions to their acne problems, leaving them to suffer alone.

Acne has two primary categories. It can be inflammatory acne or non-inflammatory acne. Whether if you are an adult or a teen, your acne may fall to one of these categories.

Blackheads and whiteheads are signs of non-inflammatory acne. Unlike non-inflammatory acnes, inflammatory acnes are harder to identify. Some symptoms of inflammatory acnes may be papules, pustules and in more severe cases, nodules or cysts.

You can look for different types of treatments once you know what category your acne falls under. Always bear in mind that if a certain remedy didn't produce results for your acne, you can often try some other treatments. The technology nowadays, has given rise to new treatments. Researchers are now developing some new acne remedies that may be the one you've been waiting for and may provide you the clear skin you've been longing for.
