ROLE OF BELIEF IN HEALING

To keep ourselves healthy we have to visualize ourselves as
healthy. Starting from the head, project the mind to each part of
the body one by one, neck, shoulders, arms, chest, abdomen, back,
waist and legs, concentrating on each part and seeing it as healthy.
Myrtle Fillmore, co-founder of Unity Church, talked to every part of
her body and told it that it was not weak, torpid or inefficient, but
strong, energetic and intelligent. Imagination and visualization
along with positive affirmations will work for all. See the brain
being energized with memory and intelligence, see other parts being
strengthened and healed. Talk to each part and endow it with the
quality you think it needs. Hold the palm two or three inches above
the area where healing is needed and project energy from the fingers
to the site. Feel the tingling on the fingers when the energy is
passing and feel the warmth hitting the site.

Belief is very important in healing. Therefore imagination
and visualization should be completely within the normal belief
system. If I do not believe I am entitled to a healthy liver, I will
not be able to visualize as having a healthy liver. As for me, I
believe that my maker knows better than anyone else about my organs.
I also believe that the Maker is capable of healing any organ and
any sickness. Therefore I pick up the hand of the Creator and place
it on the part that needs repair and make the maker mend it. These
and all other methods we use are good. Sicknesses are training
opportunities, opportunities to use the mind power the creator has
given us. The other reason is to create conviction. The secret is
that the mind has the power and until we test and see the result we
will not believe. The more we test, the greater is our conviction.

All tests will not have the exact anticipated effect. It is
like rain falling on the earth. Every drop does not percolate deep
into the soil, part of the water will drain away through many
subterranean channels.

Training the mind has so many benefits, even in the field of
sports.

Athletes have shown that by mental training they can improve
their performances. Those who do mental training along with actual
practice, show greater improvement than those who do only the
physical training. By visualization, we can improve our score in
golf and tennis, and in most games. A few minutes of visualization
is equal to many hours of physical training. Susan Natras, the sharp
shooter, corrected every miss by mental practice. She continued
the mental shots until she got them one hundred percent accurate.

Steve Hubbard in his book Faith in Sport wrote
that "Evander Holyfield defeated the invincible Mike Tyson by God's
help." Another story the Vancouver Sun published on November 25,
1994 was about Ray Alexander of the Vancouver football
team "Lions". Just before he blocked Calgary's crucial field-goal he
had asked God to put wings beneath his feet. He said "the Lord used
the game to convince me that God was real."

But I believe that God is not such a great fan of the B.C.
Lions and has no animosity toward the Calgary Stampeders. It is the
belief of Ray Alexander that helped him to fly and block the goal.
But it is good to have faith like that, for such faith influences
the mind which strengthens the body and brings about positive
results. We are thankful to God for this mind power.

Belief plays a very important role in almost every area of
life. For example, before Viagra flooded the market, different
societies used various products as aphrodisiacs. Antlers of
reindeer, horns of rhino, dried deer-tails, red ginseng root, snake
wine, snake blood, tiger penis, and other substances which have no
known physiological effects are sold at high prices in South East
Asia. The reason for the effectiveness of these substances is belief
which is mind power.
