Do you really understand what employers are looking for? Here is some direction on
How to win the game of Job Hunting.
Employers do not hire because they want more people to work for them. It's very simple.
Employers hire because they have a business problem and they need someone to solve it.
If they are hiring legal staff, then they need YOU because they have too many legal issues to be solved.
If they are hiring a salespeople, then they need YOU because they have new products to sell.
If they are hiring engineers, then they need YOU because, for example, they have a new drilling project to complete.
You get the idea!
Having said that ... remember:
When you apply, you are not just applying for a job. You are applying to:
HELP THEM SOLVE THEIR BUSINESS PROBLEM!
The application is the opportunity to SELL YOURSELF as the right person to solve their problem.
So, think about it.
- Am I the right person to solve their business problem?
- What exactly is their business problem?
- How can I find this out?
- Do I have any particular qualities that can solve their problem?
Job seekers often make a common mistake. They continue telling the recruiters how good they are WITHOUT even understanding what their prospective employers are looking for.
They stress things that are irrelevant to the employers business problem. If you were a business owner, would you want to hire this person?
Solution:
- Find out what problem the recruiters are trying to solve.
- How? Do the research, find the right contacts, get assistance from professionals.
