Getting its beginnings in Unity, Maine, Unicel is a Rural Cellular Corporation mobile phone brand. The areas covered by Unicel’s services are northern New England, Minnesota, Alabama, Mississippi, Oregon, eastern Washington, and nearby areas. Unicel finds its headquarters in Alexandria, Minnesota.

Unicel’s services are provided primarily with GSM technology at 850mhz and 1900mhz (PCS). However, in Minnesota, a large quantity of the service utilizes competing CDMA company networks instead. The reason for the range of different forms of provided services is a result of the many acquisitions that Unicel has experienced over other wireless carriers.

On July 30, 2007 Rural Cellular Corporation had made an announcement that Verizon Wireless (a CDMA carrier) had made an acquisition offer, and that they had accepted this offer. Verizon’s intentions were to convert Rural Cellular Corporation’s GSM customers to CDMA technology, but would maintain the structure of the existing GSM network in order to generate revenues through roaming fees.

On October 4, 2007, the shareholders of Rural Cellular Corporation approved the acquisition agreement from Verizon Wireless. The offer was for approximately $2.67 billion in cash and assumed debt. Verizon then declared on December 4, 2007, that it would swap its Unicel shares with AT&T for AT&T’s Dobson Communications Company shares.

With all of this change and acquisition, it is no wonder that Unicel white pages do not yet exist. There simply has not been any practical way to compile that information while still maintaining the privacy of their subscribers. Furthermore, though Unicel may once have intended to take part in the current 411 directory assistance project to include cellular phone numbers, as they have been acquired by Verizon Wireless – which has rejected participation in the project – the odds are slim that this option will be made to their customers.

Therefore, it makes sense that the current online resources offer the most practical searching and reverse cell phone number searching solutions. Sites such as www.SearchThisPhoneNumber.com offer searching abilities that – provided the telephone number and area code – will allow customers to gain access to associated names, addresses, phone carriers, and other useful information.
