When it comes to thermal binding machines one of the most common questions that I am asked by customers concerns the differences between the BindIt Perfectbind binding machine and the BindIt Perfectbind II binding machine. Many customers notice that the BindIt Perfectbind binding machine is actually priced higher than the Perfect Bind II binding machine and wonder if the PerfectBind binding machine is worth the additional $100. To answer that question, here is a quick comparison of the two binding machines:

1. Both binding machines will handle documents that are up to 12” in width and up to 1” thick. Additionally, they both allow you to bind multiple documents at the same time provided that they are less than a total of 1” thick.

2. Both binding machines have built in timers to let you know when your documents are ready, built in cooling racks and feature a 1 year limited warranty.

3. The Bindit Perfect Bind binding machine does not require a warm up cycle before binding the first document. You simply insert your first document turn on the binding machine and it will be ready in approximately 45 seconds. Alternatively, the Bindit Perfect Bind II binding machine does require the machine to warm up before the first document can be bound. This adds an additional 2-3 minutes to time that it takes to bind the first document.

4. The Bindit Pefect Bind II binding machine come equipped with the ability to choose between two different temperature settings. The high temperature setting is designed to assist in binding hard cover books. The Bindit Perfect Bind binding machine does not come equipped with the ability to change the binding temperature. This means that if you want to book bind hard cover books you will be required to run your books through multiple binding cycles.

In reading the list above you will notice that the two binding machines are very similar and that the Perfect Bind II binding machine actually comes with a feature not included on the Perfect Bind binding machine. For most of my customers, I recommend the Perfect Bind II binding machine. However, some customers who do not bind a large number of documents and who do not anticipate book binding hardcover books choose the PerfectBind binding machine for its increased speed. Both are great binding machines, and really, the choice is yours.
