BUT ...
Could you be truly satisfied living that way? Could you be satisfied knowing that your choice of lifestyle was depriving you of the joy and delight that comes with experiencing all that life can offer?
And even more importantly, could you have any self-respect knowing that you had chosen to waste your abilities and talents, the gifts that God gave you for the purpose of adding quality to your own life and to the lives of others?
Would you feel good at the end of each day knowing that you had contributed nothing to yourself or anybody else, even though you were perfectly capable of doing so?
Would you feel good if your child asked you something and you were unable to answer, ie unable to add to your child's education, because you had chosen a lifestyle that gave you no leisure for reading or learning?
Would you feel good hearing about people suffering as a result of a natural disaster such as a flood or hurricane and knowing that as a result of your lifestyle decision you were unable to help them?
Wallace D. Wattles said, "You can render to God and humanity no greater service than to make the most of yourself". Or to look at it another way, you can ONLY serve God and humanity FULLY by making the most of yourself.
Albert Schweitzer said, "I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I do know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve." To truly be of service, you need to have the appropriate resources available to you. That means allowing the abundance that can provide those resources, into your life.
Yes, you can be happy doing nothing, experiencing nothing, and achieving nothing, but if such a life comes about because of your own decision not to allow money and resources into you life you will never be truly satisfied and will never find the true contentment which is the highest aim of life.
