Shropshire is almost encircled by the stunning river Severn, famous for its bore each year.Shrewsbury is the main city well known for its flower show in August. It has 2 bridges one on each side of the city, known as the Welsh bridge and the English bridge, and is well worth a visit. There is still an ancient law that allows a welshman to be shot with a bow and arrow after midnight on the bridge!!

There are many smaller towns including the famous Ironbridge with its fantastic bridge and museums allowing you to travel back in time. You can build a coracle and sail it on the river or just take in the atmosphere of the times gone by at the museum where you step back in time.

Ludlow is a smaller town with a lively market in the shadows of the castle where much of the entertainment is focused during the summer months.See a Shakespeare play in the open air within the castle. Visit the annual food festival or indulge yourself in the many antique shops.

Bridgenorth is renowned for its steam railway and is one of Britains most fascinating towns, set up high on sandstone bluffs,in two parts, the lower half of the town is alongside the river Severn. During the summer the Thomas the Tank Engine train runs from here and at christmas time it is the Santa Express. We all love a trip on a steam train.

There is so much to do and see.For information on all local towns and villages see http://www.ukvillages.co.uk
