As the third largest island in the Mediterranean, Cyprus is a popular holiday location for visitors from all over Europe and further afield. It's not hard to see why this gem attracts so many visitors each year.

Located at the eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea, there have long been close links between the UK and Cyprus. These links continue to the present day, with many Brits being so taken with the island that they have chosen to purchase property here.

The attractions vary and seem to attract people of all ages. This is an island that boasts beautiful beaches, fantastic golf courses and wonderful historic sites.

For younger generations, Cyprus has also become known as a place to party. The resort of Ayia Napa has helped Cyprus to stake a claim as a real rival of the Spanish island of Ibiza.

Ayia Napa is a lively resort, which attracts visitors largely because of its thriving nightlife. The town has a number of popular nightclubs and attracts artists from all over the continent.

Indeed, it often seems as though the resort is geared towards fun evenings, though it does also have plenty of daytime attractions.

The entire island offers a glorious climate. This makes it the perfect place to enjoy a beach holiday and to take part in watersports.

The leading resorts on the island make ideal locations for a family holiday. If you're looking for quieter locations, then these can also be found.

Many visitors are surprised by the beauty of the Cypriot countryside and by the extent of the historic sites here.

Cyprus is an island that is looking to the future but which never forgets its past.

You can find out about travelling to Cyprus by reading the Cyprus airports guide, which has further contributions from Keith Barrett. This article may be used by any website publisher, though this resource box must always be included in full.
