Cheap electricity prices- companies not doing themselves any favours

This weeks’ accusations that the top companies in the energy sector are rigging the market in an attempt to push prices up should have been a sign for the UK’s top companies to distance themselves from any speculation. However, this has been the opposite to what a certain well known provider has done.

The company in question has increased gas and electricity prices by 15% and 9.7% respectively which has added fuel to the fire. The UK’s “top 6” have all now increased their prices, making finding cheap electricity prices harder. It is hard to believe for customers that these companies are not trying to increase prices.

All 6 providers have blamed the increase on the wholesale price but when you compare gas prices and electricity rates all 6 companies come within £13 off each other which is damning evidence against them. This is especially strange given the recent bombard of complaints that they have all received from unsatisfied customers. The fact that all 6 blame the price increase on the wholesale price is interesting because all 6 have different electricity generation and strategies which makes the price difference between the companies even more suspicious.

All this means that is as important as ever to compare providers to find the best deals around, even if the prices may be higher than they should be. Searching online can ensure that you get the best deal around.
