If you're like 99% of online business owners you aren't yet making as much money as you would like to.

Infact, it may even feel like you're working every hour possible but getting nowhere.

If this is the case then it's time to stop treading water and instead think objectively about what you're doing.

Taking this "helicopter view" of working *on* your business rather than *in* your business can reveal some very telling things.

So take the time to consider how your business is going, what is working (and what isn't) and identify any obvious growth opportunities. Because often it's easier to expand an existing business than start a new one.

When you really consider your progress to date it's likely that your lack of results are due to one of three problems.

They are lack of knowledge, lack of time or focusing on tasks that don't offer suitable rewards.

Let's take a closer look at each of these in turn to see what you might be able to do about them.

1) Lack Of Knowledge

This is arguably the easiest point of all to get over.

To overcome a lack of knowledge firstly focus your sights on one particular element of your business - such as search engine optimisation or list building - and then buy ebooks, read courses, watch DVDs, visit forums and keep testing things out until you have the necessary knowledge to achieve what you want.

When you have, this will bring in adiditional revenue to your business that will enable you to invest in further training.

The important thing here is to focus on just one element and keep at it until you're good at it - don't try to spread yourself too thin. And if necessary, outsource some elements to those with more experience than yourself.

And keep your knowledge accumulation up constantly throughout your business life. Besides, most training like this is tax deductable anyway.

2) Lack Of Time

Lack of time is often an illusion, and a sign you aren't doing things in the most efficient way.

I know it sounds harsh - and I know it can be hard to believe, but once you start building a reliable team around you who can support you things start to get a lot easier.

Rather than doing everything yourself consider seeing yourself simply as a "project manager" whose job it is to plan out the project, find the right people, and manage the process.

They work. You manage.

Using these techniques I have just managed to launch 7 different websites in 2 weeks.

Now I appreciate that this isn't initially possible when you start out but as soon as it becomes financially possible, get in people to help.

3) Lack Of Focus

Typically we waste a lot of time. Time spent on your business isn't necessarily productive time.

Infact, when asked, a lot of business owners admit that whilst they are "at work" for eight hours a day, only 30-60 minutes of that time is spent productively.

You goal should be to make as much of your time as possible as productive as possible.

One way to do this it to take time every month (or even every week) to take stock of what you achieved last week and what the results were.

By doing this on a regular basis you will notice that certain ways to spend ytour time have higher payoffs than others. Focus your time on these "high-return" elements for the greatest gains in the shortest time.

Following the above 3 steps will help drive your business forward and create some amazing growth for you. Soon enough you will start to see the results of your efforts and will have finally broken through that plateau.
