Installing Harken blocks to your boats is not a very difficult task to do but doing it rightly ensures the ease of use. Fixing Harken blocks need a sound judgement of the load factor and angle of deflection. These are the most basic factors affecting a proper installation of the block.

You do not have to be a master of physics to proceed for mounting the block accurately. It is just a sensible understanding of the spot where you wish to install the block. It must be placed at the right spot to enable maximum use in accordance to the load factor. The load factor is different for different boats because the size, shape and structure of the boats are dissimilar.

To install Harken blocks you need sealant, drill machine, bolts, fender washers, backing plate and lock nuts. All the above hardware will enable you to firmly fix up the block. Make drills on the right places after measuring correct distances between them. Check twice before you make a drill because a wrong hole made will spoil the show of your boat. Keep the angle of deflection in mind and imagine the ease of use it can provide. Make the correct drills according to the holes provided in the block. Match them accurately and equidistantly with each other.

Now, fixing Harken blocks in an exact way involves the use of hardware materials. Firstly, fasten the screws along with the sealant inside the hole, which will give firm hold to the screws. Secondly, a backing plate and washers must be used to give a strong hold to the whole block. Lastly, to make the whole system of Harken blocks fool proof you must use lock nuts. In this way, your boat will be ready to deal with any amount of hiccups. It is one among the important safety steps taken to secure your boat.
