If you love watermelons, you can’t ignore the sweet beckoning of honeydew. Often referred to as “Temptation Melons”, honeydew is a popular member of the watermelon family the world over. Let’s start with the basics of the fruit. A honeydew has a round to slightly oval shape, typically 15-22 cm long. It is usually devoid of ribs or nettings. Maturity can be hard to judge, but is based upon ground color ranging from greenish white (immature) to creamy yellow (mature). Quality is also determined by the honeydew having a nearly spherical shape with a surface free of scars or defects. Also, a honeydew should feel heavy for its size and have a waxy (not fuzzy) surface.


What makes the honeydew an excellent natural source of good health is the fact that they are not only low in calories, but also a great source of vitamin C.
