Let's face it, we need fat in our diet - but there are the good, the not so bad and
the evil kinds of fat you should know.

Fat helps us absorb essential antioxidant vitamins such as A,D and E, as well as vitamin K.

The fats we consume aids in the development of nerve tissue and produce hormones such as estrogen and testosterone.

Put it simply, without enough fat, we will be sick and slow. And too much of the wrong kind of fat will
add more body fat, and make us slow.

So when it comes to eating fat - your goal is to eat enough of the right kinds of fat to boost your muscle growth without blocking the arteries and making a home around the stomach.

Here are the 3 kinds of fat that will make a difference to your stomach fat -

1. Unsaturated Fat

These fats that come from plants and fish - and they slide through your arteries without creating a traffic jam.

These kinds of fats are good, especially the mono-saturated kinds.

Great sources are nuts, avocados, olive oil and canola oil.

However, most health experts agree we do not get enough of omega 3 that comes from fish and flaxseed.

Tip here is - go easy on foods from the fryer and eat more from the sea.

2. Saturated Fat

Although these fats are less healthy, it is not all that bad.

These fats mainly come from meats and dairy foods such as burger, butter, lard and cheese.

And although coconut oil is saturated fat, for unknown reasons it behaves like unsaturated fats.

However you see it, saturated fats have some benefits to your cholesterol profile, but they can increase the risk of heart disease.

As always eat in moderation.

3. Trans-Fat

The evil kinds - and it has been linked to heart disease.

You need to get it out of your diet and keep it off.

Trans fat occurs mostly in animal foods, and are a product of food processing
that solidifies vegetable oils.

These fats are mainly found in fried, processed and packaged foods such as crackers, cookies, and chips.

The next time you're at a supermarket - read the label and avoid 'hydrogenated' or 'partially hydrogenated' kinds on the ingredient list.

Another tip is - avoid eating these fat as much as possible.

Or else you'll add inches to your waistline.

Fats are good, but there are the good, the not so bad - and the ugly kinds.

The next time you eat fat, think twice - this is one tip you must know on how to lose fat from your stomach.
