If you are serious about becoming a successful Chef, you may well want to return to college and complete a course. There are many courses of a semi professional standard that last around six months before completion. These aren’t compulsory but can really help you hone your skills. Another advantage of doing one of these courses is that they will make it easier to market yourself from a business perspective. People love to hire people with qualifications.
You could always offer to cook for friends and relatives for free to begin with, in exchange for references which can be used to help you gain legitimate business. You should see this as a positive a sit will help you hone your skills.
Once you are off and running with your business, you will begin to really enjoy your work. Every request and situation is likely to be different, which is good as you will be aware of what you need to be aware of when preparing food.
Ask for feedback from your customers and even prepare a quick survey which they can complete. Take this on board and you will see improvements in your approach, preparation and your end result.
Once you have reached a stage where you think you can charge more for your time and skills then do so, but be aware not to price yourself out of the market. You may need to expand your business, if so you could offer Chef Jobs to the community, just make sure they are as skilled as you though!
