So…by the process of elimination, you have narrowed your choices down to one. And with time spent corresponding, asking questions, and good old common sense…you have every reason to believe the feelings are mutual.

Offline, when you are actually dating someone, there are certain little niceties you can do to make your love interest feel special and loved. Maybe you want to surprise them, and show up at their job with a picnic lunch…or drop off homemade cookies just to let them know you were thinking about them. During the winter months, scrape the ice off of the windows and warm the car up before she leaves for work.

This is one of the biggest challenges with online relationships. You are hundreds, maybe thousands of miles away from the person you want in your life. How do you compete with the actual, physical singles they meet every day? It’s not easy, but it can be done. It takes a little time…and a lot of creativity! Here are just a few ideas, to get you started:

1. Now and then, send online greeting cards and notes. There are hundreds of free online, greeting card sites. Be selective…make it personal. On all of the cards, you are able to add your own personal message. It can be clean…or not so clean. Make it slightly suggestive…

Pick a romantic sunset, seascape, or winter haven scene…send it with a personal note…“I can’t wait to share this with you!”

Do not bombard him/her with online cards and notes! When you send too many, it becomes annoying and/or will soon be taken for granted.

If you’re sending notes and cards every single day…the very first time you miss a day…? …suddenly it seems like you are losing interest.

2. Go on a Virtual Date! Here is an example of an email I would send on Friday evening…around 8:00 pm:

I didn’t think the weekend would ever come! This had to be the longest week in history! But knowing I would be seeing you tonight, helped get me through. Since we’ve decided to meet at the movie theatre downtown, it gave me a little extra time to get ready. Including stopping to get my nails and pedicure done. I picked out a deep red as my nail color. I thought you would like it…

After a relaxing shower, I chose to wear a deep red satin and lace camisole…to match my nails! Just knowing I have it on makes me feel sexy and sneaky at the same time! I love the feel of satin on my bare skin…I’d better hurry and get dressed!

I see you waiting for me in the corner parking lot…I can’t help but smile whenever I see you! As usual…you look really nice….
