Having been involved with online dating since its very beginning, I now have my list of
“must haves”.
The perfect online dating site must have the following search capabilities:
Age: We all have, or should have our “range” limits. (Mine is -5/+10. In other words, he must be less than 5 years younger or up to 10 years older.)
City, State: Allows you the opportunity to decide whether or not you want to get involved in a long distance relationship.
Current marital status: Once again, we deserve a choice. Personally speaking...? I avoid recently divorced and legally separated. I have no desire to be caught up in a “rebound” situation. Few situations are more painful than developing feelings for someone, and then they decide it is too painful being away from their children. Or they really can’t afford to end the marriage.
Occupation: Maybe a person had previously been involved or married to someone in law enforcement, and they lived in a constant state of fear. Or, maybe their partner was a cross country truck driver. When that relationship ended, they vowed to never have another sleepless or lonely night...
Last log in date: This is a very important feature. You have no idea how many sites continue to circulate old pictures of members that haven’t signed in for over 90 days! On one very popular site, they would post “New Members In Your Area”, and I had first hand knowledge that some of these people left that particular site a long time ago! I questioned the site administrator about that. Believe it or not, if they do not receive a letter of membership cancellation in the mail, they are still considered members! Who takes the time to send a cancellation in the mail? We just stop logging in!
It can dent your ego a bit, when you’re not getting responses to your emails.
Don’t be in such a hurry. Slow down; join a few sites that offer free trials. Before you post your profile, decide what the site must have. There is the perfect online dating site...just for you!
