Laser printers have been ruling the market for quite some time now. Whether it is for home or for office use, people are installing more and more laser printers. They are not only economical but also print large number of copies at the same time.

Laser Printer is basically a regular printer that prints high quality text and graphics on plain sheets. Akin to photocopier, it also employs xerographic printing process. But in this case it differs on the fact that the images produced here are by the direct scanning of the laser beam.

Buying a printer for your home or office is a daunting task. Moreover the market is also surrounded by many options. The manufacturers have laid wide variety in front of the consumers. Even the online shopping portal adds on to our confusion. Every site talks about the best printer, which further tighten the knot. There are numerous printers to choose from. Consumers are actually spoilt for choice!

There are three types of printers available in the market mainly Laser Printer, Inkjet Printer and Dot Matrix printer. Every printer has their own specific pros and cons.

The Dot matrix printer is quite similar to a typewriter in function and it is perhaps the oldest printer which is currently available in the market. In this type of printer inked ribbons are used for printing the text on a paper. The time when this printer was introduced it actually created waves in the market. But with the advent of newer technologies, this traditional form of printer became redundant. You could find these printers still in use because of its low cost and copying facility. This economical printer can print large number of copies but then you have to bear with its noise.

On the other hand an Inkjet printer prints text by ejecting tiny droplets of ink on to the paper. It may cost you your salary but then it gives you better picture quality. Measured in DPI, higher the DPI better would be the output quality. While the Inkjet printers do give high quality print outs, the cartridges are very expensive.

Laser printer uses laser technology to print text on to the paper. It gives you the highest quality print outs. With great functionalities, laser printers are the latest introduction in the market and are also the most expensive. On a more serious note the question which is still unanswered is, which printer to buy?

Now that the retailers are offering printers with scanners and companies like HP, Canon, and Xerox are lowering down their prices, it’s really getting tough to find the one, which is best among the lot.
