A hot wax is placed on the area and spread thinly in the direction of the growth of the hair, the hot wax then should be allowed to cool. A strip of linen or tightly woven cloth is then placed on the area.
Once again, in the direction that the hair is growing, firmly pressed, and smoothed to make sure that the whole area is covered by the cloth, then with a sharp tug in the opposite direction of the hair growth.
Cold Melbourne waxing works in a similar way, these strips can be bought and easily applied without the mess of sticky wax pots. These strips come in different sizes large for larger areas medium and small for eyebrows, upper lip and the chin for example.
Waxing works by taking out the hair from the root so it is only a temporary method and will last up to eight weeks and the treatment is applied again.
Waxing has been around for centuries and can be traced to the Egyptian times and was used by royalty and the upper class, this spread to the rest of the world.
The older traditional way was to use sugar instead of wax the sugar was melted down to form a caramel like substance rolled into a ball and smeared onto the area.
For years, swimmers and boy builders have been Melbourne waxing for a super smooth look.
