Funny aprons put the "fun" in "functional." Though aprons have been around for literally centuries, they have most commonly been worn for their function, not their style or humorous qualities. Fortunately, today we have discovered ways to wear the apron for its function, while still having fun with it.
If you have an event coming up that you are dreading, don't just go and hate it the whole time: make a difference. An apron with a funny saying can go a long way in livening up your boring event. One perfect example is the infamous company picnic. You've probably had to attend at least one too many of these in your lifetime. You drag your spouse or date, and stand around talking about the weather with people that spend too much time with every day anyway. On top of that, your boss is there, so you feel like you can't really be yourself anyway. Fortunately, this kind of misery doesn't have to be inevitable!
The next time your company picnic is announced, resolve to make this one different. All you need is one magic item, the funny apron. While you could go out and buy one for yourself to wear, that probably won't do the trick. You could end up with a reputation as the office clown. A better way to go is to get your boss to wear one. But how are you going to manage that?
Since he is the "boss" and all, it might be a little hard to tell him what to wear. It works better to be a little spontaneous, anyway. Go in with a few other employees and plan to present your boss with the gift of a funny apron at the picnic itself. Make a little presentation out of it, and make sure he opens it in front of everyone. Unless he is a complete stick-in-the-mud (in which case probably nothing will help), the boss will probably put the apron on right then and there, and wear it for at least part of the picnic.
Don't worry about making "brownie points" for giving the boss a gift. Even if it is your idea, that is not the focus of this little plan. Give the apron simply with the intent of changing the atmosphere of your normally tedious company picnic. No matter what, the gift should be marked as being from everyone at the office.
Usually this plan works like a charm. As long as you stick with an apron that has a funny, but non-offensive, saying on the front, you will be sure to get a laugh. Then when the boss is a good sport and wears it around, people begin to lighten up and have fun, almost like magic.
