One of the major troubles of facing an overstuffed closet is that, it is full of clothes the owner doesn’t want! Many people are just lazy and they don’t clean out their closets, even after many months; while other people are very attached to certain garments and feel that it is wasteful to throw them out, even if they are faded. If you have load of old cloths, never throw them into the dumpster. Feel free to donate them to a local home or orphanage. The fastest and easiest way to clean up your closest is to remove all the cloths from the closet and put them on your bed. Now check each every clothing and separate them based upon how you often wear them. For instance if you wear a tee very often, it is sure that it would have faded or it won’t last for more than 2 or 3 dressings. Other clothing like suits which is costly and it will be worn only during important occasions.
Once you have segregated the cloths, hang them together based upon the category, they belong to. Keep all your sweaters together, all suits together, then all formal shirts together, all casual t-shirts, jeans together and finally all inner wears (vests, thongs and briefs) together. At any cost never hanging cloths based on color family, this will simply cause a big confusion as you will tend to think “I want to wear a suit,” rather than “I want to wear something white,” so use more intuitive grouping system of keeping similar stuffs together; this is considered to be the approach when figuring out how to keep things organize in your closet.
However within a category of garments, you may maintain a color system. For instance, you can hang all your shirts or pants from lightest to darkest; you can do the same with your sweaters, T-shirts, etc. Sticking to this rule makes it easy to look for specific items. For example if you pick up a shirt form the shirt section, if you think you have worn it recently you may simply put it back and pick another one, this will surely save time and you need not make a big mess. Have a happy dressing!
