Just to start somewhere, I want to let you know that Acne Vulgaris largely known as Acne is a skin inflammatory disease caused by changes in the pilosebaceous units. Pilosebaceous units are skin structures consisting of a hair follicle and sebaceous gland associated with it. Many teenagers get this type of acne. Acne lesions are commonly referred to as pimples, spots or "zits", and less commonly as gubers or plooks. Acne is common in puberty due to abnormal hormonal changes.

When the Glands produce excessive oils, the oils combine with dead skin cells blocking the hair follicles. Oil secretions build up beneath the blocked pore allowing propionibacterium acne bacteria to multiply uncontrollably. The skin then inflames and produces the lesions that are now visible as pimples. The most affected areas are the face, and the upper neck. The shoulders, chest and the back may have acne as well. The upper arms can have acne too but lesions found there are often keratosis pilaris and not acne.

Inflammatory cysts, comedones, papules, pustules and nodules are the typical acne lesions. These appear more inflamed with pus, reddish bumps, and boil-like swellings. Epidermoid cysts do not appear as inflamed and may occur alone or when acne develops.

Did you know that the way you respond towards development of Acne determines how soon Acne will fade away or lessen. You may not know when Acne will disappear, for some people it may take very long while for some it can disappear when they reach early twenties if you take the condition calmly and positively, you will fight Acne. Please note that after you treat Acne scars may still remain in your face.

In order to cure your acne you have to be able to get your hormones into balance by feeding your body the key nutrients that aid hormone regulation in the glands and also strengthen the liver which is the other hormone regulatory system. You have to also apply a topic that trigger the self healing process of your skin, this way you will avoid further blemishes while you are treating the main cause of acne.

Tips and instructions:

  • Leave the acne lesion alone! do not squeeze it. This can spread the inflammatory process and worsen the acne.
  • wash your face gently with mild soap or a sulfur soap twice a day. Just pat your face dry and do not rub it with a towel.
  • Use skin products that do not clog pours.
  • Do away or stay away from oil based products.
  • Avoid acne irritants such as airborne grease from fast food restaurants, rubbing or friction from sporting equipment etc.
  • Acne will not go overnight. Give anti-acne products time to clear up the lesions. This can mean several weeks or even months. Be Patient!!!
  • Some acne products increase the skin's photosensitivity. When in the sun wear a hat and use sunscreen and avoid tanning booths while using these products.

A very high percentage of people are affected by Acne at some point in their life. Acne can cause depression, self rejection, low self esteem and can really affect a person's life. My biggest advice is that if you realize that you are developing Acne, take it positively seek advice on how to go about solving Acne problem. There so many health organizations that give this advice and even offer perfect solutions for Acne problem.
