Finding the time to write blog posts, articles, and an ebook can be quite a challenge, unless you use goal setting and time management to your advantage. Here is how I am able to write so much every day and also teach my students how to do the same thing.

Make a plan for what you want to achieve with your writing. This must be written down and you need to be specific. If you want to write an ebook, write down what your topic will be, how many pages it will have, and the date you want it completed.

Chunk it down into smaller pieces so that you will be able to work on it a little each day. For example, you may want to write down that you will write three pages each day and complete a chapter of your ebook in two weeks.

Make a time schedule for your writing. Make an appointment with yourself to write at the times you say you will. Write for a minimum of one hour each day at the designated time. If you find yourself unable to write or feel writer's block coming on, do not get up and do something else. Stay at your computer or other writing area and write something - anything - during that time.

Revise your goals as needed. You may find that you have set an unrealistic goal for yourself that may need to be modified. Only you know how much and when you can write.

Use time management to your advantage. You will have to choose between your writing and other things that take your time. Something has to give so that you will have the time you need. Turn off the television and keep phone calls to a minimum. See what other activities are taking your time.

Get enough sleep and eat carefully and thoughtfully. This will give you more energy and keep your mind clear while you write.

Follow these steps for at least a month and then see where you are. You may be surprised at how much you were able to accomplish by setting goals and sticking to them.

Working with a mentor can also make the difference in your writing success. Find someone whom you can trust to advise you with the writing process.
