Online advertising has grown as a legitimate form of reaching new customers and clients during the last decade. Ten years ago computer equipment was comparatively expensive and Internet connections were slow and costly. However the picture has changed dramatically with the online world being far more accessible to people from all backgrounds. Recruitment companies though do tend to neglect this area of advertising their recruitment vacancies and are missing out on many candidates. There are a lot of good quality candidates that only look online for jobs these days, compared to the older method such as looking in a local or national newspaper.

In realistic terms the widespread availability and comparatively low costs of advertising online compared to the former favourite of online advertising has really changed the way in which vacancies are advertised. In the past a recruitment company would need to spend a huge amount of money on advertising in newspapers in order to at least compete with the more established companies. This has changed now as you are able to purchase advertising packages on websites which can be seen by just as many people for a fraction of the cost.

When it comes to jobs boards, they are essentially divided into two categories. The first one is the bigger jobs board which displays vacancies for many different sectors. These are often heavily branded and marketable. The second type is a sector or industry specific jobs board. The second type of jobs board is likely to have far less registered users than a more general website, but more often than not the amount of quality candidates is likely to be better in comparison. On the other hand with the main jobs boards, you are going to get your advert viewed more times.

With the variety of jobs sites available to you to advertise on, it is understandable that you may be a little confused as to which website is the best for you. When you are looking at these websites, more often than not the bigger jobs boards will boast about their statistics in terms of the amount of traffic, or in human terms the amount of visits their website gets on a daily basis. Although these statistics may look impressive, you will have to decide if they can indeed work for you and help you fill your vacancies. Always try and get a free trail if possible.
