First make sure you know what you want in your love. If you don’t know you will be wasting your time and the time of the other Singles.
You should make a list of what you are looking for, and what you are not looking for.
For example; what you looking for maybe be someone over 5’9”, an average to an athletic build (maybe the last person you were with we slim, and you do not want to ever be reminded of them!) Suppose you want someone within a 50 mile radius, a single parent with up to 3 children.
No if the things I mention are non-negotiable and true deal breakers? Then you will want to avoid communicating with any of the following:

Slim builds

Someone with 4 children
The problem with looking for love online is not being exactly sure what we want. We will just wander around...chit chatting with everyone...passing out our email address...and maybe even our phone number.
3 months later, we are no closer to find the one for us than we were in the beginning! Why? Because we spent out time with Singles we weren’t even interested in!
