Women Work Hard: How to energize your day. |
|
Many women today are superwomen. They juggle the family life with the work life and do it quite well. Some women though need that extra boost of energy to get through the day. Don't let work ruin your family life by being so fatigued by the time you get home. You need to spend quality time with your spouse and/or your kids. Take the extra measures needed to gain an energy boost during the day and before you get home.
- Lets get that blood of yours flowing. I'm sure, even though you work a very busy
schedule. You can take a 15 minute break to go outside. To get your blood
moving, walk around your building one time or out to the outer parking lot.
While doing so, swing your arms back and forth extending them all the way
forward and all the way back. The point is not to get a workout here but to get
your blood circulating. Just do this for about 5 minutes.
- Switch from coffee to Green Tea. At least one cup of
green tea a day will not only boost your energy levels but it is extremely
healthy for you. The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found during a study
that green tea extract was a significant increase in energy expenditure, which is a
measure of metabolism. Also this study showed that green tea extract had a
significant effect on fat oxidation. So not only will you boost your energy, you
will also burn fat.
A Few of the Top Green Teas:
Sencha
Sencha is the most popular of Japan's green teas. It has a lightly astringent
taste along with a slight sweetness. It is best when brewed with hot, not
boiling water.
Dragon Well
Dragon Well tea (also called Lung Ching) is the ultimate green tea. The name
comes from a legendary well in the West Lake region of China where the tea is
produced. The color is a pale, whitish-green, flat, yet stunning, needle-like
tea, which is pressed flat by hand. It has a delicious, full bodied almondy hint
with just sufficient astringency for definition and satisfying refreshment.
Macha
Macha is the kind of tea used in traditional Japanese tea ceremony and often
mixed in Japanese cakes. It's ground up very fine, and the tea is whisked when
prepared. The flavor is light and sweet. The very young leaves are steamed,
dried with no rubbing, and ground by a hand mill.
- Those women that sit most of the day need to take a stretch timeout every hour.
Standup, stretch and twist. You should even take a walk to then end of the
hallway and back. Stretching promotes relaxation, both physically and mentally and promotes blood circulation.
The ability to let go of stress is something everybody can use, especially when dealing
with day-to-day stress.
- Eat Peanut Butter. Why peanut butter? Well for one it tastes good but more so
peanuts have a lot of valuable vitamins in it. For example, 1 oz or 2
Tablespoons contains about 6.7g of protein, 6.1g Total Carbohydrate, 15g Total
Fat, 187mg of Potassium and 50mg of Magnesium. I want to focus your attention to
the Magnesium. It helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function, keeps heart
rhythm steady, supports a healthy immune system, and keeps bones strong.
Magnesium also helps regulate blood sugar levels, promotes normal blood
pressure, and is known to be involved in energy metabolism and protein
synthesis. So we want this because of its energy contribution.
- Eat a banana. If you want a quick fix to boost energy levels there's no better snack than a banana.
They contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose - combined with fiber; a banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.
Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous
90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's
leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit.
It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and
conditions making it a must to add to your daily diet.
- If you are having a rough day and nothing seems to be going right. Do 2 things
for lunch: 1) Go to the mall and do a brisk walk around the first level. Do this
for about 10-15 minutes. In the process, as you pass people by, smile and say
hi. Doing this will keep your mind off of the stresses going on at work. A
happy person is a healthy person.
2) Next find a candy store and treat yourself to some chocolate.
Eating chocolate increases the
levels of endorphins released into the brain. The endorphins work to lessen pain
and decrease stress. Another common neurotransmitter affected by chocolate is
serotonin. Serotonin is known as an anti-depressant.
One of the more unique neurotransmitters released by chocolate is phenyl
ethylamine. This so called "chocolate amphetamine" causes changes in blood
pressure and blood-sugar levels leading to feelings of excitement and alertness.
It works like amphetamines to increase mood and decrease depression, but it does
not result in the same tolerance or addiction. Phenyl ethylamine is also called
the "love drug" because it causes your pulse rate to quicken, resulting in a
similar feeling to when someone is in love. Maybe you should save some of this
to take back to the office and treat yourself again after that afternoon meeting
with the staff.
