Pick your destination carefully. Some locations offer wedding packages such as the all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean. These can be a great way to have a stress-free wedding and honeymoon all rolled into one. It can also be an ideal way to save money. With a traditional wedding now costing well over $20,000 many brides are choosing this option, as a cheaper alternative.

Check what the weather is likely to be like at the time of year that you are going. Although we all have this picture postcard idea of a hot tropical island, this isn't always the case. There could be seasons where there are tropical rainstorms or hurricanes. Finding this out in advance is a must.

Tropical weddings tend to be quite laid back, so you are free to wear what sort of clothes you like. Gents can get wed in a Hawaiian shirt and shorts if they want, there's no real formal dress code. Most brides still choose to wear a white dress but many choose a comfortable fitting outfit.

Flowers can really give your wedding an authentic tropical feel. Choose brightly colored blooms against dark green palms. Good flowers to use include anthuriums, heliconia, cymbidium orchids and dendrobium (Singapore orchids). These are all available in gorgeous colors and will give a luxurious feel to the day.

You can continue the theme by decorating the wedding cake with the same flowers that you use in your bouquet and arrangements. Orchids are particularly good for decorating a cake and great results can be obtained even if you are not a professional.

There is an abundance of tropical wedding favors and favors with a beach wedding theme. These include gel candles with an orchid in them and luxury chocolates in the shapes of seashells and starfish. This is a great way to say thank you to guests for joining you on your tropical wedding.
