Pocket DVR the New Domestic Violence Tool

Domestic violence is alive and well today in the U.S. where women have civil liberties. It most certainly reigns supreme in countries where women have no rights. So it is a world-wide problem and the bad news is it isn't going to go away anytime soon.

We could argue that many women don't know any better that verbal and physical abuse is just the way things are: witness the sect in Texas recently that got busted for polygamy and child abuse. One third of the women there under age 16 were pregnant. Just the way things are eh?

Or we could argue that men don't know any different. They saw that kind of abuse from their fathers when they were growing up and accepted it as "that's just the way things are." That's how men treat women. I don't think so!

Did you know?

1. Domestic violence causes 25% of workplace problems like absenteeism, lower productivity, and excessive medical benefits use to the tune of more than $5.8 billion annually.

2. Seventy eight percent of all Human Resource Directors recognize it as a substantial employee problem.

3. It costs corporate America $1.8 billion in lost productivity.

4. Eight million man days of paid work and 5.6 million man days of household work are lost annually due to domestic violence.

5. One out of three women report some form of physical or sexual abuse in their lives most often a member of her own family.

6. It is the largest cause of injury to middle aged women but it happens to men as well.

7. It is estimated that between 3.3 million and 10 million children see it annually.

8. Twenty two percent of middle class divorces are caused by it.

9. Eighty five to ninety percent of the victims are female who more than likely know their attacker and are between the ages of 16-24.

One of the biggest problems in a domestic violence dispute is evidence. It usually boils down to a "he said, she said" situation with no witnesses. Now there's a new tool that can be used to record audio and video as evidence.

It is the pocket DVR. It is about the size of a cell phone and can record audio and video discreetly and covertly. It is so easy to hide and use.

Hopefully you'll never need it but if you do need an audio and/or video recording of an incident or a history of incidents this is your baby.
