Do you want to know how to make your own customized and creative baby boy birth announcements? Here’s some info on a quick and easy way to do it.

Supplies needed:

* Heavy-duty parchment or other quality paper in the 8 1/2 x 11-inch size in the color blue. This will be the outside of the baby boy birth announcements. Also, buy some less heavy, but high-quality paper in white. This will be the inside of the announcement. Choose some coordinating envelopes in the 8 1/2 x 5 1/2-inch size. You can find a good selection of reasonably priced paper and envelopes in a big-box office supply store like Office Max.

* Gummed multicolor foil stars -- like the ones your elementary school teacher used put on your papers – in colors like red, blue, green, gold and silver. If you can’t find these at the office supply store, try a store that caters to educators, or look on the Internet at sites like officedepot.com

* Pictures of the baby to go with the baby boy birth announcements.

Here is how to make the baby boy announcements:

1. Cut 1" off all sides of the white paper. Cut about 1/4" off all sides of the blue paper. Be sure to adequately trim the blue paper or the cards won’t fit in the envelopes. Center the trimmed white paper on the trimmed blue paper and glue both together.

2. Fold in half the wide way to make a card that’s about 8 x 5 inches in size. Press securely on the fold to be sure the card stays closed. You can run the barrel of a pen or ruler gently over the crease further flatten it.

3. Glue the stars in a random pattern all over the front of the card. You can use all the star colors for a vibrant effect or you can use just one color, like, blue or gold, for a more elegant effect.

4. Write a sincere and creative message on the inside of the baby boy announcement, like:

"Please join us in welcoming [baby’s name] to the world…" or "We’re pleased and proud to announce the arrival of our beautiful baby boy [baby’s name]…"

Information to include:

* Date of birth
* Weight
* Length
* Parents’ names
* Baby’s name(s)
* Baby’s gender (some names like "Taylor" are unisex)

5. Glue the baby’s picture under the message and surround it with a border of stars.

6. Glue just a few random stars on the inside of the card – just a tiny sprinkle. You don’t want to distract the reader from the announcement’s important message.

7. It’s probably not a good idea to use stars on the envelope, since they might interfere with the post office’s automated machinery. If you will be hand delivering some of the announcements, feel free to embellish the envelopes.

Now, doesn’t that sound easy? In just a few minutes, you’ll have created custom-designed baby boy birth announcements to share with family and friends.
