In the recent past, I seem to have a lot of trouble with my keyboards. I have a desktop and two laptops. Last week after I returned from my vacations, few of the keys in my desktops keyboard were not functioning properly. A few keys dint even work. This was the same with one of my laptops which I left at home.

This used to be the case most of the time this year. This is when I decided to take matters in to my own hands. I am not a tech guy, either ways I wanted to find out the root cause of the problem and try solving it myself.

When I unscrewed my keyboard, everything seemed to be ok. Then I did a little google search to find out the problem. I came to know that the cause of the problem was dust deposits in the keyboard. Then I gave a mild air blow to my keyboard with my vacuum cleaner.

Then I plugged my keyboard to my pc and hoped it would work. Amazingly it worked. All the keys functioned properly. If you don’t want to use the vacuum cleaner, you can even use a straw to blow air in between the key gaps.

Here are some tips to make your keyboard work for more weeks and years to come:
• Clean your keyboard on a regular basis.
• Keyboard covers can also be used to avoid maintenance.
• Blow out the dust in between the key gaps regularly.
• A paint brush or a straw can be used as an alternative to vacuum cleaners

If your keyboard doesn’t work after all this, there is one last thing to do before you get a new one. Drown your keyboard with water and let it for a couple of hours and let it dry for a day or two and then see if it works or not. Make sure that you don’t unscrew your keyboard before the warranty gets over.
