Although, Internet marketing is growing faster, it has also limitations. It requires customer to use newer technologies rather than the traditional media. Low speed internet connection may complicate the downloading of complicated web pages as an example. Also, the inability of the consumers to touch, feel and try of products before purchasing it online. On the other hand, some websites offer return policies and in store pick up services to reassure customers.

Others hesitate to buy products on internet for a reason that they want their personal information be discreet since online marketing requires several personal information. Consumers are afraid that companies engage in online business will give their information to others. Other companies have guarantees on their websites, claiming customer information will be private. However, many customers are unaware that their information is being shared and are unable to stop the transfer of their information between companies.

Internet marketing methods and strategies encompass a wide range of services such as search engine marketing which can be broken down into search engine optimization and pay per click, display advertising, text-based advertising, behavioral marketing, software-based ads, e-mail marketing, newsletter marketing, Customer Relationship Management Marketing affiliate marketing, web press releases, interactive advertising, online reputation management, online market research, and also Social Media Marketing Methods such as blog marketing, multivariate testing or optimization and viral marketing.
