Diet Basics: Are These 4 Foods Available In Your Kitchen?

Many people make the mistake of starting with a fad diet program when trying to lose weight. In fact, fat loss doesn't begin with fad diets; rather, it begins with your kitchen. You may vow to follow a fad diet but if your kitchen is stocked with the 'forbidden foods' can you keep yourself from becoming tempted? I don't think so. That is why it is important that you rid your kitchen of all the 'bad' foods and stock it with healthy stuff. In this article I will tell you about four must have foods that you should always have in your kitchen!

1. Yogurt: Yogurt is the favorite food of anyone who cares about their health. There are actually two varieties of yogurt, and you should always try to go for the low-fat variety. Yogurt will kill two birds with one stone: it will satisfy your sweet tooth as well as supply your body with the necessary protein. As you may be aware of, a high protein consumption results in faster weight loss!

2. Chicken Breast: The charlatans would advise you to abstain from any kind of meat. I absolutely disagree with it! If you want to follow a vegetarian diet because of 'ethical' reasons, that is a different issue altogether. But it is absolutely stupid to say that any kind of meat will make you fat. After all, it all depends on your choice of meat, and chicken breast is one meat which contains very little fat and lots of proteins. This is an absolute must have if you are looking forward to building some muscles! And do I need to tell you again that protein helps you to burn fat?

3. Lean Hamburger Meat: This is yet another type of meat that I highly recommend. Most people will ask you to abstain from it as it is rich in 'bad' fats. Once again, the type of meat you choose will determine the results you get. If you choose the lean ground beef, it is very much rich in protein while containing very little fat! It would make a healthy meal for you when added with whole wheat breads!

4. Almonds: People say that all fats are bad, which is a false generalization. There are actually two types of fats, saturated and unsaturated. The 'bad' fats are the saturated fats. Almond contains the monounsaturated fat which will help you burn the 'bad' fat. Remember that your body needs fat in order to survive, and what better way to satisfy your body's needs than with almonds?
