One of the best ways to improve your position on search engine results pages (SERPs) is to generate article content and submit it to sites on the Internet.
Articles can be of any format including white papers, case studies, guides, tutorials, quick manuals and the like. Anything that provides valuable information to your readers can be considered an article, and should be disseminated to the public to help drive traffic to your website. Finishing your article with a link that provides searchable keywords improves the value of these submissions.
Submitting articles creates a geometric progression, which means you don't have to send your article to 1000 sites to be placed on 1000 sites. Every site you submit your article to becomes a base for other sites to pick up that content and place it on their page. Common pickup sites are blogs and industry-related content pages. These sites live and die by having more content on their sites, so they collect as much as they can from wherever they can. If you submit to one article submission site, it may be picked up by 10 or 20 other sites. These sites get scanned as well, and the content is lifted from there to populate other sites. Each site down the chain feeds multiple sites and so on.
Let's say you submit an article to one article submission site, which we'll consider a first tier site. A measly 5 sites pick up that content and place it on their second tier sites. Each of those sites get 5 sites to glean the content from their site for their third tier sites, and a fourth level of sites at 5 each pick up the content from the third tier sites. Your article is now on 156 sites, each one with your carefully crafted links pointing to your site.
Many article submission sites have particular fans, and so, by submitting to multiple article submission sites, you can spread your articles even further. If you submit to 5 article submission sites, you can expect a modest distribution to over 750 sites. This isn't bad for half an hour's work copying and pasting your article at a few submission sites.
Assuming your content is good and desirable, you can inhabit 750 sites easily, and probably make many 1000s more over time.
For your convenience, I've added 3 sites to get you started. Each of these allow you to quickly deliver your articles to the Internet for fast pickup.
Start right here -
Article Alley. If you aren't submitting articles here, you're missing out. This site is very popular, gets scanned a lot and will lead to a great deal of progression.
Netscape - Google loves Netscape's Propeller and it’s a good way to get articles out into the public eye fast with high PR.
Article Troll. A new site on the Internet, but unique in that it allows you to link to article content AND provide a bonus link to your content! No duplicate content issues either.
All of these sites are free. Some require registration (articletroll does not) but it is usually fast and easy, especially here.
