For those of you who have never had the unexplainable frustration of a yeast infection, you are so lucky. You haven't had to experience the embarrassment that can come from not being able to sit still during a business meeting or even a romantic evening with your spouse. A yeast infection can make you just plain miserable, but vaginal itching isn't the only symptom of a yeast infection.

There are actually a few key symptoms of yeast infections that are so painfully obvious. Some people will experience burning, either just when you urinate or all the time. This is almost as bad, if not worse than the itching as the burning can at times bring tears to your eyes. At least it has for me. And it's not just burning from the infection, but it's burning from the irritation that has taken place. That's a yeast infection symptom that should be having whistles screaming in your head letting you know that something's wrong. There are creams out there that can work to soothe the burning but without finding a cure for the yeast infection symptom, they are only a quick fix.

Another yeast infection symptom is pain in the vaginal area when having intercourse. This one here is why my poor husband is ready for the infection to be gone as it can hurt so bad that I don't want him near me. And if you do decide to have intercourse when you have a yeast infection, a condom is highly recommended so that you don't pass it on to your partner leaving them in as much misery as you are. If you do pass it on and they don't get treated, then you could just pass it back and forth between the two of you. That wouldn't be fun.

One of the worst yeast infection symptoms is when you have a vaginal discharge that is never pretty. This yeast infection symptom will be a discharge that resembles cottage cheese with a curd-like texture, whereas some have a discharge that is more watery. The color is usually white to a light gray, varying with each person and sometimes with each yeast infection.

If you are wondering how you can go about avoiding a yeast infection and in turn the unpleasant yeast infection symptoms, here are a few tips. A big one that I have always been told is not to douche. Douching will flush out that area but it will also flush out any of the good stuff along with it making your groin area a hot spot for a yeast infection. Another one is to try to keep that area dry. If you like to workout, great, but just make sure that you change out of those sweaty clothes before too terribly long. And wear underwear with natural fibers as they allow your nether regions to be able to breath, therefore stay dry.

Here are just a few yeast infection symptoms for you to remember and drill into your brain as the symptoms of a yeast infection are never pleasant. If they were then there wouldn't be so many quick cures available for them.
